Golf Performance

Want to play like Tiger Woods and Ernie Els?

At beleura, we are excited about our Golf Performance Program.  Our program ensures that golfers have the best opportunity to enjoy a lifetime of injury-free golf and improved performance through:

  • specific strength and conditioning programs
  • advanced musculoskeletal assessments
  • early identification and treatment of golf-related injuries
  • improved injury management through golf-specific rehab programs
  • education to increase longevity in the game

We believe that the body is the most important piece of golf equipment.  It’s the only piece of equipment you can’t buy.  It’s also the only piece of equipment you can actively improve.

Proper execution of the golf swing is an outstanding athletic achievement.  And there are many physical characteristics (such as posture, balance, flexibility, strength, power, control, timing and endurance) which work in harmony to produce a good swing.  Sometimes there is a weak link – and the golf swing is compromised.

Often, this is because what the mind wants to do, the body simply can’t do.  In other words, the swing is influenced by subtle combinations of joint stiffness, muscle weakness and pelvic or trunk imbalances.  This creates a less-than-optimal swing and a much greater risk of injury.

Remember:

  • 1 in 4 golfers is playing with an injury serious enough to require medical treatment
  • high handicap golfers are 50% more likely to injure themselves than low-handicap golfers
  • the number one cause of injury in golfers is poor swing mechanics

At beleura, our physiotherapists will provide a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment specific to golfing related injuries. These tests are designed specifically for golfers to identify current and future problems. From this the physio will determine if you require treatment and/or an individualised golf specific strength and conditioning program. You may also be directed towards preventative strategies including myotherapy/massage, pilates or personal training.
