INFORMATION FOR REFERRING PRACTITIONERS. CLICK HERE.
Recover is run by Beleura’s senior physio Lachlan Wakeling. This short course empowers patients with knowledge critical to understanding their pain and taking control over their recovery. Scientifically accurate, easy to understand, and practical information is presented in a group setting.
Unlike some “Pain Management Courses”, Recover is designed to allow time for questions, discussion, activities and tailored solutions for each participant. The aim is that each participant comes away with ideas for change that are meaningful and relevant to them.
Sessions include group discussion, interactive activities, educational videos, and further resources for home. Topics include:
- Why things hurt/how pain works,
- Understanding scans,
- Understanding pain medication,
- Identifying hard to recognise factors in pain,
- Stress, mental health and pain,
- Getting moving with pain,
- Effective rehabilitation planning,
- Returning to meaningful activity,
- Building activity tolerance.
- Calming a sensitised nervous system.
- Development of a personalised plan.
